Limp Bizkit biography

Florida band, Limp Bizkit, is most often known for helping to create the nu metal genre of music. Beginning in the late 90s and early 2000s, the band sold nearly 30 million copies of their albums across the world. Front man Fred Durst explains that the name comes from the band deciding upon the dumbest name they could think of. Others comments that the name was used to describe one of the bandmate's brains while smoking the green.

The most current formation of the band included Durst, drummer John Otto, Turntables with DJ Lethal and bassist Sam Rivers. Wes Borland, guitarist, returned to the band for "The Unquestionable Truth" and then quit again in 2006. His new band From First To Last is still touring the country.

The band's roots began with Durst moving to Jacksonville and met bassist Sam Rivers. They later found Otto and began jam sessions. From there, Limp Bizkit was born in 1994. Rob Waters, original guitarist, left the band soon after their first demo, Mental Aquaducts, and the band recruited Wes Borland. With Borland on board, the whole band practiced only once for a half hour and then went to play a show right after. This was the beginning of the truest form of Limp Bizkit.

The band released four CDS: Three Dollar Bill, Yall$, Significant Other, Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water & New Old Songs before legal trouble hit them. During a concert in Sydney Austrailia, a girl died of a heart attack when the crowd rushed the stage in a formation called a mosh pit. Apparently Durst was urging the crowd to be violent. She was "clinically dead" when she was removed from the mosh pit, but regained consciousness after air was pumped within her lungs; a few hours later she died in the hospital. The crisis was crushing for the band's publicity. Durst refused to fly to appear in court for the girl's trial. His testimony included warning the venue of the dangers of the amount of security provided. In turn, the court reported that the amount of people in the venue and the amount of security was too less, and Durst and his band was off the hook.

After that incident the band recorded Results May Vary, The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) and a Greatest Hits album. However, the band soon fell apart. The most recent news from the band came on March 16, 2007 when Durst reported that he would like to tour with the band again.
